At a recent meeting of the Marlow Municipal Authority, the trustees were honored to have three students from Marlow Middle School.
The students (Atticus, Lane and Luke) recently qualified for the KidWind World Competition in Phoenix, Ariz. with a small windmill generator. The students have learned about generation of electricity and implemented their findings into building a windmill that earned them the qualification as a Oklahoma KidWind Champions.
The KidWind Competiton helps teachers and students creatively explore the science, technology and implications of a world powered by renewable energy, according to its website - kidwind.org. The world competition is May 18-21. The students' teacher at Marlow Middle School is Cindy Dyes.
The Marlow Municipal Authority is the public works arm of the City of Marlow that handles the policy and business of the utilities of the city. The City of Marlow has been a Public Power Community since 1910. Marlow's wholesale power provider, the Oklahoma Municipal Power Authority, has a diverse energy mix including two wind farms and the largest solar farm in the region.
The Marlow Municipal Authority donated $100 to the students' trip to Phoenix and wished them the best of luck at the competition.
