Hydrant flushing

A contractor with the City of Marlow will be performing flushing of fire hydrants throughout the city for the next few days.

Flushing of fire hydrants is a preventative maintenance process to clean water lines by running water through them to remove sediment, rust, and other contaminants, ensuring water quality and verifying the hydrant's functionality for firefighting.

During flushing, discolored water may appear for some residents. To end discoloration, and prevent staining of laundry or other items, simply run water - preferably in a bathtub - until the water returns to clear.
